FURNACE OIL, FUEL OIL

Fuel oil is a petroleum-based product obtained during the distillation and refining of crude oil. It consists of different fractions that range from lighter distillates to heavier residual oils, each suited for specific applications. These fuels play a vital role in industrial, commercial, and marine energy requirements worldwide.

During the refining process, crude oil is separated into multiple petroleum products such as petrol, diesel, gas oil, and furnace oil. Fuel oils include a wide range of products such as heavy fuel oil, marine and bunker fuels, gas oil, heating oils, and diesel fuel. Each type varies in viscosity, composition, and usage depending on energy demands.

Furnace Oil (FO) is a heavy residual fuel derived as a by-product of petroleum refining. It is produced after the extraction of lighter and more valuable fractions from crude oil. Due to its high calorific value, furnace oil is widely used as an energy source in large industrial operations.

One of the key advantages of furnace oil is its cost-effectiveness. It is among the most economical fuels available for industrial applications, making it a preferred choice for power generation, boilers, furnaces, and manufacturing plants. Its availability and efficiency contribute significantly to operational cost savings.

With proper handling, storage, and combustion systems, furnace oil provides a reliable and consistent source of energy. Its widespread use across industries highlights its importance in supporting large-scale operations where stable and economical fuel supply is essential.
